Atlantic Tuna

I don’t think it will ever stop amazing me how quick the weather changes hear, today was almost perfect and our clients were a bit unlucky loosing some really big sting rays and a few more Atlantic tuna but they did manage to catch 3 on some very light tackle.

Red Snapper

Unfortunately it was back to some horrible weather including heave rain today but as you can see our young client was happy with his small sea bream.

Blond Ray

Common Ray

It was back to work today after some really bad weather and we caught a few nice fish, including a big blond ray, some moray eels, octopus, reef fish and an unusual mackerel type fish known as a chicharro for our client Angelo van Blitterswiik, which after checking could be a new boat record.

Just when you think you are getting somewhere the weather has gone mad and we had to cancel today’s trip because of very high winds. I shouldn’t moan really as this is only the third trip we have had to cancel this year.

Angel Shark

Angel Shark

At last we had some proper weather today and it showed in the results. It was the third trip today for Stewart Roberts from England and at last he broke his duck with a good sized Angle shark, we was however beaten by Tommy his son who had a sting ray of about 50k. Some good sport was also had by Mike De Jong from Holland who had a north Atlantic tuna on a light 12ft rod.

Lizard Fish

Lizard Fish

With the wind still causing us some problems we tried a new reef today with some success and a lot of bad luck. Our photo today is Daren from England with a Lizard fish. We also caught some big Mackerel (about 2lb) each, sea breams. Octopus and assorted reef fish. Unfortunately the small fish (bogue) which we use for bait to catch Barracuda and Atlantic Tuna were all eaten off the hooks on the way up to the boat before we had a chance to send them back down on the correct tackle, we did get a couple of Barracuda to the surface on the light rods but were unable to land them on such light tackle.

Round Ray

Round Ray

With the wind still causing us some problems getting the boat positioned properly we had another fairly difficult day. Our regular client Mr Laslo from Holland had a round sting ray of about 30k (65lb) and Niki Knight from Hastings had to do a lot of work to land a common sting ray of about 80k(175lb) on an 11ft uptide rod with only 20lb line. Well done Niki I am sure that’s 1 hours fishing you will never forget.

Moray Eel

Moray Eel

All of us at bluemarlin3 would like to wish all of our clients, past, present and future a merry Christmas and a good new year. We were back to work today after our annual holiday but unfortunately and unusually the weather hear in Puerto Rico seems to have taken a turn for the worst. Our 4 Dutch clients however had a good day although the fishing wasn’t the best and caught some reef fish and moray eels. Lets hope for a change in the weather and the fishing tomorrow.
