Fishing Methods
The Fishing in Gran Canaria like anywhere else in the world is to some extent seasonal, however good fishing is available all year round.
There are two types of fishing, Trolling and Bottom fishing:-
Location and methods however are normally left to the Captain and can be changed on a day to day basis to ensure the best possible fishing for you on your trip.
Trolling

Rods trailing lines behind fishing boat
This method of fishing involves driving the boat, in a location where the targeted species of fish are with a selection of lures in an organised pattern behind the boat.
This method is used to catch pelagic species, such as Blue Marlin, White Marlin, Spearfish, Bluefin, Yellowfin and Albacore Tuna, Dorado, Wahoo and the smaller Tuna species Bonito, Skipjack etc ….
The trolling season is normally from April to September inclusive but as with all fishing, things can happen at any time, so the trolling seasons can change depending on the fish.
Bottom Fishing

Catch Stingrays whilst bottom fishing
This usually involves anchoring the boat in depths varying from 10m – 120m but normally no more than 60m and lowering baits to the bottom. There are however many variations which can be employed while bottom fishing, depending on depth, strength of current and targeted species.
Species encountered while bottom fishing are up to 11 species of Rays ranging in size from 4 kg up to 200 kg plus , various Sharks, Barracuda, Amberjack, Snappers, Bonito Tuna, Grouper, Moray Eels, Jumbo Mackerel and many other reef fish.
The bottom fishing season is normally October to April, but by keeping in touch with other boats (Commercial, Professional, Dolphin search etc) we can change methods and adapt to go trolling at very short notice if required.
Afternoon trips are available throughout the year subject to demand.
